Course Title: Using AOTA's Official Documents to Advocate Our Distinct Value

Course Speaker & Credentials: Vicki Thomas, COTA, CDP, ROH

Course abstract: This course will describe the role of AOTA's Commission on Practice, the process of receiving and reviewing official documents of AOTA and the use of documents in practice.

Course Objectives: 
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
*Evaluate strategies to use official AOTA documents to articulate the profession's scope, support an area of practice, or address a professional advocacy opportunity
*Discuss and apply new and revised practice-related official documents across practice settings.

Speaker description:
Vicki Thomas has been a practitioner for over 30 years working primarily with the older adult population in various settings. She currently is an educator for Keiser University's Occupational Therapy Assistant program. She serves as chairperson for FOTA's Bylaws, Policy, and Procedures and a committee member for AOTA's Commission on Practice.
