Dr. Tia Hughes is a reflective clinician, instructor, researcher, and academic leader with a diverse background and demonstrated leadership as a university administrator in occupational therapy. Her clinical experience includes settings such as acute care hospitals, outpatient clinics, inpatient rehab hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and public schools. Dr. Hughes’s research interests include adult physical rehabilitation, disabled driving, the penal system, vision therapy, and grit as a predictor. She is the former Vice Chair of the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education and a current member of the Roster of Accreditation Evaluators. She has presented to local and state organizations, authored multiple textbook chapters, edited a major NBCOT review text, and received grants for over one million dollars. Dr. Hughes has served as the annual conference convener for FOTA for six years and at the recent AOTA Inspire Conference in Orlando. She earned a BS in occupational therapy from the University of Florida at Gainesville, an MBA with emphasis on health care administration from Southern Adventist University, and an OTD from Nova Southeastern University.
