Heidi Horwitz, OTD, MAOT, MEd, OTR/L, serves as Clinical Assistant Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Florida. Dr. Horwitz’s clinical experience spans a wide range of practice settings, including early intervention, school-based services, outpatient care, home health, and skilled nursing facilities. She currently serves as Chair of the Florida Occupational Therapy Educational Consortium (FLOTEC), where she leads statewide initiatives to support fieldwork educators and students. Most recently, she directed the redesign of FLOTEC’s website to improve accessibility to resources for fieldwork educators and capstone mentors, advancing the quality of clinical education across Florida.

She previously served as Vendor Co-Chair for the Florida Occupational Therapy Association (FOTA) Conference Planning Committee, supporting the professional development and engagement of Florida’s occupational therapy community. At the national level, Dr. Horwitz serves on the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) Audit Committee and Scholarship Selection Committee.

Dr. Horwitz’s scholarly work focuses on fieldwork education. She is a co-author of Predictors of clinical experience performance in occupational therapy and physiotherapy: A scoping review (https://doi.org/10.1111/1440-1630.12863). Her recent research explores occupational therapy students’ use of coping strategies during fieldwork following participation in resilience-focused preparatory modules. She has presented her work on fieldwork education at local, state, and national conferences.
